There is no difference. Both terms are widespread and are used according to individual preference. From a technical point of view, there is no fundamental difference between the two. Always find out in advance whether the analysis you are commissioning includes what you need - this cannot be deduced from the terminology.
This depends on the size and complexity of your website and, of course, which topics you want to have checked. As a rough estimate, you can expect to pay at least €2,500. Cheaper offers usually mean that the audit is carried out by an inexperienced consultant and/or that the audit is highly automated. Both can lead to highly standardized template audits that in no way truly uncover and prioritize the weaknesses in the context of your setup. Of course, professional audits become more expensive as the number of pages and/or complexity of the setup increases. nother cost factor is, of course, that an audit is carried out by a very experienced expert, who in turn can recognize essential issues more quickly and evaluate them individually.
No, an SEO audit “only” has an indirect effect on Google rankings. he audit is an analysis of the current website for all relevant SEO factors. It forms the basis for the subsequent implementation of measures by uncovering and prioritizing all fields of action according to their impact on SEO performance. Google rankings can only be influenced by implementing (the most important) measures, as the relevant changes to your website (technical, content-related, structural) must first be live. Only then can Google re-assess the pages, evaluate them and then display them higher up in the search results.
A site audit can be useful both before and after a relaunch.

Conducting an SEO audit BEFORE a relaunch can be useful to identify existing problems and ensure an SEO-friendly migration.
